November Story Ivy

For this month's story scene I am doing something a little different.  Instead of doing one scene, I am going to do a bunch of little snippets.  When I am walking around the house doing chores or watching kids or something an idea will come to me so I scribble it down so I won't forget it.  Then I work the idea into the story later when I come to that part of the writing.  I start out with one paper and sometimes end up with three or more, some of the papers are kind of small.  So what I am going to do here is share some of those scribbles from one of those papers for the story I am working on this month, Ivy.  It is the third book in the Dakota Donald's series.  Fritz is #1 in the series and Leanna is #2.

"Keith what did you do?" Ivy asked as she rounded the corner and saw Keith almost drop the saddle as he was tried to put on Montana Horse.
    "It's nothing," he replied.
"Don't try lying to me, you know it doesn't work,"  Ivy stood between him and his horse.
"Fine!  I pulled a muscle in my back while we were moving wood yesterday," he sighed.  Ivy nodded her head in satisfaction.
"I'll give you a massage when we are done feeding," Ivy took the saddle and threw it over the horse.
"Not happening," Keith tried to edge Ivy out of the way.
"Not a good thing to say to Ivy," Rachel appeared around the corner.
"There is no was around you two is there?  I guess I will have to give in," Keith leaned against the wall.  He was in too much pain to try fighting with these two girls right now.
"That's right mate," she patted his arm as she moved past him.

"We can make it back before them," Keith said.
    "How?" asked Ivy.
"Follow me.  We can cut across lot," he took her arm and they started off at a fast pace.  When they came to the old dry creek bed, Keith jumped down into it and held his hands up to swing Ivy down.  Instead of letting go of her right away when she was safely on the ground and hurrying on like he normally did, he bent his head and pressed his lips to hers.
When the kiss ended Ivy looked up and said, "That was an adventure!"  It had caught her by surprise.

"So Sue and the boss?" Ivy asked on the way back to the bunk house with Rachel.
"Oh yeah, that's the real reason we came down here.  You know CountryManOK from the country hangout?"  At Ivy's nod Rachel continued, "Well he's the boss."
    "No way!" Ivy was surprised.
    "Yeah, that's right,"
"Why didn't you tell me when you were at our place last year?"  Ivy asked.
"No one was supposed to know.  I told our uncle and failed my history test because Sue hid the book to pay me back.  Uncle put up such a fuss, after all she met him online you know.  What he did not know was that she had already been down to meet him with a very good friend," Rachel said.
    "Wow!  So......."
"Oh yeah, we are just waiting for the word."
    "Really! it's that close?"
    "Yeah," Rachel nodded.

Ivy looked at Luke.  "You have to up your game if you are serious about Rachel.  She is thinking about dumping you."

That is all for this time.  I am doing this book for NaNo.  I wanted to finish the whole book this month (an average of 80,000 words) but I have had too many other things to do and not much time to write.  I currently have 43,816 words.  I will make the  50,000 goal I set but I won't finish the book.

I did not work on a new story this month, instead I am finishing two others.  Fritz and Liberty Park are the two I am working on this month.  I finished Liberty Park on Saturday!!!!  But I don't know that I will get Fritz finished.  We have over 4 bushels of Tomatoes to can this week as well as beets and carrots to freeze.  So to get on with this post, I am doing scenes from both Fritz and Liberty Park.  The scenes are the same kind of scenes, they both deal with the hero's birthday.  But they are different being from two different stories.  =)

Later that week, Ed left for town with the buggy and returned the next day with Mrs. Boast and Livonia.  That day, Jarvis and Roy both spent the whole day at the barn.  They were like brothers to Livonia and Jason dearly wanted to be on hand when she got there.  She had been gone all fall, winter and spring at boarding school.  Also if the boys were not there she would never have forgiven them.
“I see dust,” Jason called from his perch on the top rail of the corral.
Roy came walking out the barn door wiping his hands on a cloth.  He had been oiling tack.
“We’ve got time to wash up a bit before they get here.”  Jarvis said as he passed Roy and headed for the pump by the house.

Here is the story scene from the story I have been working on this month.

“Flara are you sure you want to run?  It rained last night and it looks like it could start again any minute.”  Zoe leaned against the wall.  Flara was tying her shoes.
“Mom I’ll be fine.  I run in the rain all the time.  I’m wearing my heavy jacket as well,”  Flara stood up and zipped the jacket she wore.
“You are so stubborn.  I’ll have a hot cup of tea for you when you get back,” Zoe sighed and turned away.  Flara had too much of her father in her and behind her.  She didn’t really listen to what her mother ever said.  If dad said it was okay, she did it.
It did start raining and hard as Flara crossed the road where she always turned just passed Sweet Stream Stables.  She ducked her head to keep the rain from pelting her face.  As she reached the Stables drive way she ran smack into something.

This months scene is from the first book from the Dakota Donald's series of which Leanna is the third book.

“Come in!”  Leanna’s grandmother called when Leanna knocked on her bedroom door the next morning.
“How are you feeling this morning?” Leanna asked, sitting down on the side of the bed.
“You know, I have never been in bed so many days in a row in all my life.  This is getting very tiring.  Why did a grown women like me have to do such a stupid thing as break my hip?  I’m sure I knew better,”  Granny Donald laughed and Leanna joined in.
“I dunno, Granny.  What should I make for breakfast?”  Leanna was still smiling.  Her granny knew how to take life with a smile on her face.
“Do we have stuff for pancakes?” Granny looked at the girl before her.
“Yeah, we can do that,” Leanna stood up.
