10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Phoebe Deane is another Grace Livingston Hill novel and a sequel to Marcia Schuyler.
When Phoebe was young her mother died leaving her to the care of a much older half brother. His wife uses Phoebe as a maid-of-all-work. Phoebe works hard with nothing in return. Her sister in law is not nice to her and the children have no respect for her. But all of that is nothing compared to the man to whom her sister in law is trying to marry her off. Phoebe has no time for social life and therefore has no friends. Miranda (from Marcia Schuyler) helps her out one time and a friendship blossoms between the two. But Phoebe's sister-in-law does not think Phoebe should have time for friends. The over-worked, lonely girl struggles for a while before falling sick. Miranda works hard to free Phoebe but the sister-in-law stands in the way. Will Phoebe find freedom, friends, and real love? This is not one of my favorite books. It's good and I like it but it is not one of my favorites. Miranda of course was great! She goes to great lengths to help her friend. This book was a nice addition to Marcia Schuyler and if you liked that one you will have to read this one. It can be found on Amazon and eBay. 5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. I did have Walt (she takes all my pictures now that Bobbie is no longer living here) take pictures of this one before it was ripped apart. Here are the before and after pictures. Once again I ripped the whole thing apart. Actually Walt might have ripped this one, I honestly don't remember.=) I used this pattern to cut out the jumper. I cut the skirt out of the skirt pieces of the dress and the bodice pieces from the bodice. There was not enough to fully line the bodice with the same fabric so I used a white piece we had lying around. I crocheted the bolero to go over it from a pattern I made up.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. One of my top 10 favorite books is Marcia Schuyler written by Grace Livingston Hill.
To save her family from disgrace, Marcia, a young woman not much more than a girl, marries the man her sister was engaged to. In this new life of hers she struggles with being the wife of a man who does not love her, his disagreeable aunts, and unaccepting townspeople. Her sister finds out what Marcia did and is angry. What's more, a man she meets is determined to drag her name in the dirt when she rebuffs his attentions to her. But the little red-headed girl next door sticks to her through thick and thin and Marcia and Miranda become good friends, Miranda coming to Marcia's rescue a few times. Things become worse when Marcia receives a note calling her to a tavern a ways from town where, unknown to her, the villain awaits. Then when her sister shows up in town, Marcia believes all her dreams of happiness and love are ended. I am still not sure just what it is about this book that makes such a favorite but I find myself reading it over and over. I adore Miranda and her temper. The struggle Marcia's husband goes through was well written I think. The villain was a perfectly hateable man. I also like reading the descriptions of the dresses, hats, and bonnets in this book. You can find Marcia Schuyler on Amazon, ebay, and Project Gutenberg. The end of another year is fast approaching. This last year passed way too fast for me.
WRITING: I tried to write on a new story each month. Moving from one story to another keeps me from becoming bored too quickly. I finished two of the eight books I worked on this year. You can find snippets from most of them here on my blog. HAND WORK: I worked on and finished several crocheted items. I worked on many sewing projects as well. I hardly did any knitting, having other things going, but just this month I knit a scarf and am working on a pair of sock which will take a while. I did some wood burning this year as well, which was new and fun. I regret to say that I did not take before pictures of this jumper and blouse. I was going to and then.....I was taking it apart before I realized I had not gotten pictures. But here is what it looks like re-made. ^^^^^I wanted to add a little something more, so I added the flowers to the neckline. I made them pointed to coordinate better with the flowers in the pattern of the fabric.^^^^^
I DID IT!!!! Saturday (November 29th) I totaled up my word count from the day before and had 50,770 words! I wrote more Saturday and Sunday and have 53,000 now. I feel good about how much I was able to do, what with all the other things that came up. I did not finish the book, so will probably work on doing that till it is done. Another week or two should do it I think. I hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving! Mine was good. =) My sister Bobbie and her husband were down. Bobbie took this fun picture and I thought I would share it with all of you. I am so late in getting this up. One thing after another happened but now I have gotten around to it. =)

About Me
Welcome to A Basket Of Pansies. I am Sarah or sometimes known as Billie Jo, a Christian girl in her early 20s and lover of dogs. I enjoy reading, writing, sewing, drawing, crocheting, horseback riding as well as riding motorcycles, taking walks, designing clothes, hairdressing, and lately planning weddings though for now it has just been for my stories but someday maybe I will plan a real one for someone. Here I like to share my thoughts and whatnot with you all. I hope you enjoy reading this and will pay another visit here someday. God Bless. Archives
